Description:
“The Women’s pin honours our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women past, present and future. When I think of the women from my life, I think of beauty, strength, carers, keepers, teachers, counsellors, healers, providers – and so much more.
However, if I were to choose one word, it would be resilient – in fact, fiercely resilient. Our elders shaped our future through some of the most brutal and vulnerable times in the history of our country. Our women survived.
Survived to carry on for their children, grandchildren and future generations. The pin represents our women travelling to a meeting place, coming together to unite in the love, strength, healing and cultural knowledge passed down to us from our ancestors. Together, women create empowerment and resilience for our next journey that is still evident in our customs and traditions today.”
