Ochre Dawn is seeking expressions of interest from Tasmanian Aboriginal artists to create an exclusive artwork for the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN) 2027 Conference.

About the Commission

The conference theme is:

Global Leadership, Local Impact: Mental Health Nursing in a Changing World

The artwork should celebrate the evolving role of mental health nursing and reflect themes of leadership, connection, healing, resilience and the positive impact mental health nurses have within communities. It should also acknowledge the increasing diversity of mental health nursing across new and emerging settings.

The successful artwork will become the visual identity of the conference and will be featured across a wide range of applications, including:

  • Conference signage
  • Website and digital communications
  • EDMs
  • Lanyards
  • Conference satchels
  • Bandanas
  • Promotional material and event collateral

The artwork should incorporate a contemporary colour palette inspired by the Tasmanian landscape and be suitable for reproduction across both large-scale and small-format applications.

Artist Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artist.
  • Have a strong connection to Tasmania.
  • Be available to work within the project timeframe.
  • Be comfortable working collaboratively with Ochre Dawn and the client throughout the creative process.

Project Timeline

The artwork commission will run from early August through to late September, allowing time for concept development, client feedback and final artwork delivery.

Artists are welcome to submit either traditional painted artwork or digital artwork, depending on their preferred medium.

Throughout the project, the successful artist will be supported by Ochre Dawn’s specialist First Nations creative team, who will assist with project coordination, client liaison and preparation of artwork for its various print and digital applications.
